Through our congregational vote to approve the following "Welcome Statement," we have completed our communal discernment and were accepted as a Reconciling in Christ Community.
“In response to God’s unconditional love and grace, the people of Faith Lutheran Church seek to follow Jesus’ commandment to love God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We express that love in our welcome of people of all ages, races, economic status, intellectual and physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, along with their families and friends, to join with us as we worship God, grow in faith, and offer hope.”
Our Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Core Team of Pastor Sandy Selby (Chair), Tom Antal, Karl Demuth, Joe Gardner, Kit Scheetz, and Linda Weigand led us through this discernment journey that began in June 2019. We give thanks for the faithful service of the RIC Core Team.
Each member of the congregation was given multiple opportunities to explore the Biblical and Theological perspectives around same-gendered relationships, and learn more about the process of becoming a RIC Community. We give thanks for this opportunity to learn and grow together as we live out our mission to worship God, grow in faith, and offer hope.
