Mitzvah Day

On June 1 and 2, Faith members participated in Mitzvah Day activities alongside other Akron area faith organizations, in a Day of Caring for The Community.  Areas of participation were the following:

Brookside Bath - Duane and Loralee Daily planted flowers in individual pots for the residents.

Loads of Love Laundry - David Simpson volunteered with ASIA (Asian Services in Action) to provide free laundry service at Laundry Time in North Hill, where our own laundry ministry operates on the last Wednesday of each month.

Akron - Canton Foodbank -  Jim and Nancy Tobar packed and sorted food, providing for 2,955 meals to our neighbors in need.

Mentoring:  Pay it Forward - Pastor Jean listened to speakers from Red Oak Behavioral Health's iC.A.R.E. Mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Akron Youth Mentorship, as they shared firsthand from local youth and mentors about the impact mentoring has had in their lives and how you can become involved and pay it forward as a mentor.

The After Project Dinner was held at Temple Israel where we enjoyed learning about what each other did at their project sites.

It was a wonderful two days of working side by side with other churches, temples and synagogues as we cared for our community.
