Multi Cultural Youth Leadership Event & ELCA Youth Gathering

Lankika Mendis who, along with her Dad, Eranga Mendis, are representing Faith Lutheran at this year's ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. They attended the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE), a pre-event to the ELCA Youth Gathering, from July 13 - 16. In this space, students come together in the largest gathering of people of color within the ELCA to celebrate, worship, and connect with one another.
They then joined 16,000+ other youth and adults for the Youth Gathering, from July 16-20. Eranga shared that, "The overall theme is "Created to Be," with a focus on a specific area each night (brave, authentic, free, disruptive and discipleship). The speakers have all been wonderful and I think everyone, not just the youth, have been able to connect with the stories conveyed by them. We are looking forward to Synod Day worship this afternoon."
